Tech prices falling



This page is here just for the history. I followed prices of the CPUs and computer memories from June 1997 to July 2000. Around these times new CPUs and bigger memories were coming to market so fast that prices went down ridiculously fast. Highest tech CPU that cost 970 euros in June 1997, cost only 260 euros year later and there was already nearly twice faster CPUs available.

Prices on page are Finnish Marks that were still used at the time. To turn them euros, price need to be divided by 6 (or 5,94573 to be exact). Also, prices in Finland tend to be somewhat higher than in many other countries, so this page is not to find out exact/lowest price of some ancient technology. But relative price drop is still easy to see.
